Gas Fitting Karrabin - Identifying Signs Of a Gas Leak

8/11/2018

Your safety is at risk when you smell a gas leak caused by a damaged pipeline.  It is necessary to handle the situation with care as inhaling gas can harm your lungs. This is where you need gas fitting Karrabin.

Identifying Signs Of a Gas Leak

We know the dangers of a damaged gas pipeline so we need to keep an eye for some of the signs of that possible gas leak. Never disregard even the slightest hint of natural gas inside or outside your home.

Inside the Home

Natural gas has a distinct odour additive which makes it easier to detect. The odour is like a rotten egg. If you can smell gas in your home, it is a sign that you may have a gas leak. Also, a hissing sound emanating from the area of the gas appliance is an indication of a gas leak.

Outside the Home

If you see dirt thrown into the air or plants appear to be blown by a breeze, it could be a sign of a gas leak. It can sometimes cause bubbling in moist in the surrounding areas.

Another indication of a gas leak can be seen in nearby plants. Plants near a gas leak become sickly and eventually die without an obvious cause. If you notice dead or discoloured plants surrounded by healthy green plants, there could be a case of a gas leak.

Other subtle signs of gas in your surroundings include having a dry spot in a moist field and a flame that seems to burn above the ground. If you suspect a gas leak inside or outside your home, do not panic, stop what you're doing and go outside at a safe distance from the house. Then call your gas company or a gas plumber to check the leak.
