Does your water heater need repair? Perhaps the important question is if it needs hot water system repair Amberley or you need to replace the unit? Here are signs to help you determine that your water heater needs to be replaced.

Unit's age - Water heaters should be replaced every 6 to 12 years. After this point, the unit may experience issues and start operational inefficiency. To avoid costly water damage, note the following signs that suggest your water heating system needs replacement.

It delivers lukewarm or cold water - Of course, one of the most obvious signs is when you turn on your shower and you get cold water. Something is wrong with your water heater when it cannot produce warm water. If it’s an older water heater then it will most likely need to be replaced.

Deteriorating water heater tank - Most people assume their water heater is working fine until they encounter water distribution problem. Yet, age is not the only sign that it needs replacement. A well-maintained water heater that could be older can still run fine. Watch out for signs that your water heater tank may be deteriorating such as leaks and a rusty colour.

Rusty colour water - If your hot water seems brownish, this is an indication that your water heater is rusting and needs to be replaced if repair is not possible. However, getting rusty coloured water could also be a problem with the public water supply or rusting metal plumbing. To test this, simply turn on the cold water. If it is the same brownish colour then most likely it’s due to an external factor.

Leaky water heater tank - If your water heater tank is leaking, it may be time to get your water heater replaced as soon as possible to avoid water damage. Because the problem could be an internal issue, it is rarely fixable and is best to install a new unit.

Unable to drain water through the drain valve- If your water heater isn't flushed once a year, residue builds up inside will eventually result in resolute damage. When it reaches the point where water won’t drain then the problem may not be repaired and need replacement.
