The shower is a typical part of the bathroom, but most of us are not very familiar with the parts behind it and how all plumbing parts of the shower go together. We take a look at the most common shower plumbing parts.

SHOWER HEAD. It is one of the most obvious parts of a shower that is connected to the water pipes. In case it breaks, this shower plumbing part is easy to replace. Showerheads are available in different shapes so find the best shower head for you.

HOT & COLD WATER PIPES. These are part of the shower water supply. It delivers the water to the showerhead. Most older homes have galvanized steel pipes. Weak water pressure may be the result of sediment buildup due and it may be time to get those pipes replaced. Copper is still a common choice but others choose PEX pipe and fittings because of its low cost and simple installation.

SHOWER VALVE. This part of the shower plumbing works to control the flow of the water coming from the showerhead. Furthermore, you can adjust the temperature of the water from the shower valve. Make sure the valve is a thermostatic valve or pressure balanced valve to prevent uncomfortably hot water temperature.

SHOWER CARTRIDGE. This part of the shower plumbing system controls works to open the cold and hot water inlets. This allows you to adjust the temperature of your shower when you slide the handle to cold or hot water setting. When something's wrong with the temperature control, call an expert in hot water system repair Collingwood Park to help you fix it.

SHOWER STRAINER. Located in your shower floor, it works to stop waste from going down the drain and blocking it. It is commonly made of steel or aluminium, and they are available in different designs and finishes.

SHOWER PAN. This is one of the most basic shower plumbing parts placed under the tile floor of a shower. The shower pan, made of either lead or vinyl, is a waterproof barrier in the shape of a pan and its purpose is to catch any water that may flow through the tile and grout and direct it to the drain.
