Important Parts of Residential water system and how they work

7/6/2019

how plumbing systems work
While a good residential water system is always a necessity, but in most cases, homeowners tend to ignore some probable repairs and will just look to it when the problem gets worst. Some may hesitate to call for emergency plumbing repair as they weight on calling a plumber or just do it on their own. However, it is important to understand how plumbing systems work which can also save you time and money.

Water pipes. The main purpose of plumbing for residential use is to provide a clean water supply into your home. It is also part of the water pipe system to release waste through the drainage system. Under and inside your home is a network of pipes that supplies water to different areas of the house. These pipes could be PVC, copper and PEX.

The drainage system.  It is an assembly of pipes, fittings, fixtures and appurtenances on a property that moves sewage and clear water waste outside the house. The kitchen and bathrooms have their own drainage system but they have a common sewer chamber outside the house. ABS or PVC pipes are commonly used to newer houses. Often, PVC pipes are used for their drain pipes inside the house and use cast iron pipes outside as they are durable and won’t shake compared to PVC.

Trap and vent. These are vital components of the drainage system. You can see a trap, that curved or S-shape section of pipe, under every sink. It prevents sewer gas from backing up into your home. Every home plumbing system includes a network of vents. The drain and waste system function precisely because of the vents as it allows air into the pipes and equalizes pressure.

These areas may encounter problems too and his is where you will need the services of a certified residential plumber. They will come to your home and take a look at your plumbing problem and provide a solution to fix the problem.
