Leaky faucets and out or order plumbing fixtures can be a big problem for you. Some people will call residential and commercial plumbing Swanbank to fix plumbing issues while others feel good about doing it themselves.

Need to replace bathroom faucets and fixtures? If you are that DIY kind of person, here are some steps on how to replace your bathroom faucets and fixture yourself.

First, turn off the water supply on your bathroom sink. But be sure that you have turned them off by checking the faucets again. Next, remove the water lines from the back of the faucet and detach the arm coming down from the faucet itself that is attached to the drain stopper arm. A basin wrench can be used to remove the faucet from the sink. By removing the nuts and the washers you’ll be able to detach the faucet from the sink itself.

Then, make sure that you clean the faucet mounting area so that you can attach them easily afterwards. Also, make sure that the new faucet that you will put is off. The new faucet can now be installed by putting it into the hole. Some faucet are closed with gaskets and some are sealed with caulk. It depends on what you have purchased. You need to read the label and instruction first so that you install it right. Be sure that you properly seal the faucet before tightening the nuts and the washers. It might cause a leak or damage to your faucet. Using the basin wrench, you can now tighten the nuts and the washers.

Once you have done these, you can now put back the drain and the water lines that you remove before into the new faucet. Apply plumbers putty, a kind of cement that is made from linseed oil and whiting that is used in this kind of piece of equipment, to the drain extension by attaching it. This will help you connect the faucets in its proper place.

Make sure that the putty is dry before attaching it to the water lines. Now turn on the main water lines and slowly turn the faucets to see if there is a leak. In case you notice any problem or leak, it is better to leave the cabinet open or clear it out for about 24 hours to be sure that the faucets are properly attached to the sink and the nuts and the washers are properly placed. This will help you know if there’s a leak and you can fix it immediately afterwards.
