What To Prepare Before before the hot tub delivery and installation?

If you are looking to purchase a new hot tub, what plumbing is required for a hot tub? There is no need to install plumbing as hydro pool designs are self-contained and pre-plumbed units. It will not need on-site connections or need to install residential water supplies or drains. But before the hot tub delivery and installation, you will need to prepare the following:

BASE PREPARATION. Make sure there is a suitable hot tube base. It should be a solid, level and flat base to make even distribution of the weight. Possible bases include:

  • Concrete/Solid slab (4-6inches thick)
  • Existing stones or slabs.
  • Yard.
  • Hot tub base or pad.

It is not advised to have the hot tub or swim spa sitting on the grass. This is because the weight of the tub may cause evenly distributed or off level position.

POWER SUPPLY. Hot tubs and swim spas operate on electricity, so it will need an electrical supply. You will need the services of a certified and qualified electrician to install electrical supply for your hot tub and swim spa.

WATER SUPPLY. Since hot tubs are not plumbed in and do not need water supply to be directly adjoining to the hot tub, it simply needs a hose to fill it up with water.

DRAINAGE. Water from the hot tub can be drained to a built-in drainage hose. Some people set their hot tub or swim spa near the main drain so they can open the drainage hose and let the water drain.

Others use a submersible pump, attached to a hose, into the hot tub to drain the water directly to the main drain. This option will allow you to be more flexible with positioning and it empties hot tub faster.
